About
The Headtalk forums grew out of a desire and a realization by two artists, Bernard Charnley and Brian Holdcroft, that their discussions, when meeting socially about issues surrounding contemporary artists and their practice, would benefit from subjecting them to a wider platform. The opportunity to move the idea forward came about when they each joined the Airspace organisation as studio artists.
Practice commitments led Brian Holdcroft to leave the project in 2009 with an open door for his return as he wished. During this same period, two other arts people committed to developing the idea. These are Anna Francis and Mark Brereton. The group is always interested to welcome anyone who would like to give time to developing dialogue amongst artists and arts people.
HeadTalk has three strands at present - The HeadTalk Forum: where an invited individual or panel open a discussion on a particular area of practice: the forum is intended to be creative and challenging, yet accessible. Working from the belief that each individual brings their unique practice or other experience to the discussion, which can range from the academic to the very personal.
The other thread is HeadTalk Fringe: an open seminar style session, where participants can bring new work, issues or anything they fancy to the table, in a very relaxed and flexible space for conversation.
Currently, the energy of the group has been focused on the third strand, the Pecha Kucha presentation format aimed at bringing together diverse voices in an original, entertaining and informative way.
